- Membership Requirements
-
-
Students in 4th
through 8th grade or ages 9-14 by the first competition are
eligible to join Synchrony provided they meet all attendance and financial
requirements.
- Schedule
-
An organization can only be
as successful as each individual member. Therefore, it is necessary for all
Synchrony members to participate in the scheduled rehearsals and
competitions. Individual exceptions will be made in the event of an
emergency, but Synchrony will maintain the right to remove any member from
participation if they have not met the responsibility of attending
rehearsals. Only under special circumstances will a member of Synchrony be
allowed to miss a competition. It is very important for members and their
families to realize the commitment involved once they agree to become a
member of Synchrony. Only with everyone’s full cooperation and commitment
will this program meet the successes that are within its potential.
- Rehearsals
-
Synchrony rehearsals will be
held once every week in the evening from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Rehearsals
will begin November and continue throughout the competitive season into
early April.
Rehearsals will begin promptly at
6:30 p.m. Since we are paying for the facilities we use, it is important to
make sure everyone is there on time and prepared for rehearsal.
Members should dress comfortably,
in clothes and shoes suitable for physical activity. Clothing should be
semi fitting in solid colors. Each member will be responsible for bringing
their equipment to and from each rehearsal, practicing at home when time and
space permit.
-
- Performances
-
Performances begin in January
and continue until early April. These performances are part of large
competitions sponsored by the North Star Circuit. Approximately 20 units
from Minnesota and Wisconsin participate in these performances, primarily
taking place on Saturdays and Sunday afternoons. Synchrony will compete in
Regional A Class. Regional A Class units have younger or less experienced
performers with fundamental training as the primary goal.
Parents will be asked to sign a
waiver of liability, allowing their child to ride with an authorized
chaperone 21 years or older without holding the adult liable for any
accident that may occur during the course of the trip. Any parent who does
not wish to sign such a waiver will be allowed to drive and accompany their
own child to each competition as they see fit.
- Financial Commitment
-
Membership in Synchrony also
involves a continuous financial commitment. Synchrony is a non-profit
organization with an annual budget of over $10,000. All expenses are paid
for from the contributions of its members and generous donations from
community organizations. Each member will be required to pay dues of
$250.00 with final dues payment deadline on January 3, 2008. Dues may be
paid in three installments with members being considered committed and
financially responsible as of December 6, 2007. Dues are non refundable.
Fundraising is offered to assist the organization and members to defer the
cost of dues.
-
- Fundraising
-
Each member will have the
opportunity to participate in any fundraising activity done throughout the
season. All fundraising exceeding dues maximum will be banked for the next
season. The Synchrony Board of Directors will try to create unique
opportunities for our members and their families to raise money through
events that allow them to work together and participate in the community.
-
- Parent Involvement
-
One of the most important
assets of a color guard is its parent support group. Parents participate in
many aspects of the color guard season: sewing uniforms and flags, designing
props, organizing fund-raisers, transporting the floor, carpooling,
chaperoning, and supporting the membership of the group. Any parent or
family member who feels they could contribute to the success of this program
is encouraged to volunteer their talents at any time throughout the season.
-
-
Parents will be asked to fill out
a medical form providing Synchrony with any relevant health concerns
regarding your members. Children with physical restrictions need to keep
the instructor informed of any precautions that need to be taken to ensure
the safety of all members of this organization. This medical information
will also be used in case of an emergency when the parent is not present.
All North Star shows have trained medical personnel on the premises.
